STUDY SQUAD- Tutoring Assistance
I am happy to inform you that Southeast now has their very own study squad. Students are volunteering their time to help tutor other students here at Southeast, and they are ready to get started. We will be having the first tutor session Thursday during SRT from 10:30 to 11:30 in the Literacy Lab. Anyone who needs help in any subject is welcome to come. We will continue to have these tutor sessions during SRT until the end of the school year and will start back up at the beginning of next year. Please join us!!!
RAIDER SPORTS- Updated 04/16/14
Great job by our boys soccer team last night, they beat Gilmer 5-0 very convincingly. We will play Northwest here tomorrow night at 7:00 in a very important match, please be here if you can and encourage our students to come out.
Our Tennis Team is competing this morning at Lakeshore Park, wish them good luck.
In Region Track, Wendy Perez placed second in the discus, Luis Perez and Isabel Salinas both finished 2nd in the 1600. All three of these athletes have qualified for Sectionals! Our track teams finish region competition today, we will let you know any other results.
RAIDER SPORTS- Updated 04/15/14
We have a lot going on this week in regards to athletics and I wanted to make everyone aware so you could wish our kids good luck or come out and support them.
Soccer: First off please congratulate our girls they defeated Dalton in OT Friday, this was the first win over Dalton in quite a while. Our boys compete in the Region Tournament here today against Gilmer at 5:45.
Baseball: Our Baseball team is 12-8, we play Ridgeland in a three game series this week, with Senior Night being Thursday. They will finish the season next week with an opponent still to be determined. Our boys have a chance to finish the season with one of the best records in the history of the school.
Tennis: The Region Tournament will begin tomorrow at Lake Shore Park. We should really be proud of these kids for representing the school, almost all of these students have never played tennis until they arrive at SHS.
Track: Our track teams compete in the Region Meet at DHS starting today, 04/15/14. Both our girls and boys have done a great job this year and have an opportunity to do well at the Region Meet.
Golf: Next Monday and Tuesday our golfers will compete in the Region Tournament, Girls will play Monday at the Dalton Golf and Country Club, Boys play on Tuesday at Nob North.
Please tell these kids thanks for working to represent our school and also wish them luck! Go Raiders!!

STATE TECHNOLOGY FAIR RESULTS
Please congratulate the following students on their success at the State Technology Fair which was held at Macon University this past Saturday:

3rd Place- Shayla Bryson- Multimedia Applications (11-12)
3rd Place- Kale Hopkins- 3D Modeling (9-10)
3rd Place- Jonathan Cervantes- Hardware (11-12)
There were 836 students competing from across the state of Georgia in these categories and I am so proud of our students for their effort and for representing Southeast at such a high level. They all worked very hard and put in many hours preparing for this day.
The weekend before last, the mock trial team competed in the district competition at the Bartow County Courthouse in Cartersville. Southeast was the #3 seed going into the competition, but unfortunately we were eliminated by the #2 seed in the first round. However, we had a strong showing with Roberto Duarte being named best attorney for the round and Hector Rangel being named best witness for the round!! This is the first year that there has been a round between the regional and state, so we got to see what it takes to get to the next level and will be back ready to work next year! Please congratulate any members of the team on a great season.
The Southeast DECA chapter had a wonderful time competing in state competition this past weekend. Please congratulate Raul Garcia and Jose Soto-Gomez for advancing to the DECA International competition May 3-6.
Damien McBryar was elected to the 2014-15 State Action Team. Please congratulate on him on becoming a state officer.

The Southeast DECA members competed in the GA DECA Region 5A competition yesterday. Southeast was well represented with 17 competitors. The members did extremely well with 3 first place winners, 5 second place winners and 1 third place winners resulting in the Southeast DECA chapter winning Second place overall.Please congratulate the following students:

Southeast’s mock trial team competed in the region competition at the Whitfield County Courthouse. They went 3 – 1 on the day, which was good enough to finish 3rd in the region! Friday, Dec. 6 was our Regional Technology Fair which consisted of Southeast, Northwest, and Dalton High
